Blankets and Linens in Duronto 3AC Trains: Everything You Need to Know

Passengers traveling on Duronto 3AC trains in India can expect a certain level of comfort, one of the most important being the availability of blankets. These blankets are provided as part of the bedding items included in the passenger service. However, it's always wise to check the latest updates or confirm with the Indian Railways directly as services and policies can vary.

Getting Blankets in Duronto 3AC

The good news is that blankets are indeed provided in Duronto 3AC trains. The coach attendants will readily supply them to passengers. Typically, travelers can expect to receive cushions, blankets, bed sheets, and small towels (about the size of a napkin) until the train crosses 70 kilometers from the first departure station. This service is a standard practice and is not limited to any particular section of the train.

Blankets in All Classes

Blanks are not exclusive to any one class but are available in all classes of the Duronto Express. In the sleeper class, however, the inclusion of blankets is optional. If you wish to have a blanket included in your ticket, it will cost you INR 25 per passenger. If you realize you need a blanket after you've boarded and didn't include it in your ticket, it will cost INR 40 per passenger.

During my recent travel on the Bilaspur - Chennai weekly Superfast train with a 3A ticket, I received:

One pillow Two bed sheets One blanket One towel

I also noticed that blankets and towels are usually provided in closed packets. This ensures hygiene and neatness during the journey.

Consistent Provision of Linens

Indian Railways take care of the comfort of its passengers year-round, not limited to just the winter months. Blankets are supplied to passengers in first AC, second AC, and third AC coaches, and the cost for these is typically included in the ticket fare. In the case of Garibrath Express, passengers must pay a separate amount of INR 25 per passenger, which can be added while booking the ticket or paid in cash to the bed roll attendant in the train.

The blankets provided by Indian Railways are typically two white cotton blankets and a pillow, one for use on the seat and the other for covering oneself. During my current journey on the PPTA-CDG SF express at around 11:56 PM on August 20, 2017, at MGS, I received a set that included:

An pillow Two bed sheets A pillow cover A small hand towel Blanket cum quilt

Due to the need to avoid disturbing other passengers, I couldn't take a picture of all these items, but they are provided for each seat on the train. In the case of Garibrath Express, a small fee of INR 25 must be paid upon booking the ticket or to the attendant in the train.

Conclusion

Traveling on Duronto 3AC trains not only offers a comfortable journey but also ensures that passengers are well taken care of with the provision of necessary linens like blankets, pillows, and sheets. Whether you are traveling in winter or any other season, you can rest assured that the Indian Railways are dedicated to maintaining the highest level of comfort for its passengers.
